Terms of Service

Terms of Service

I. General terms
All commissions created by me will be in my style.

II. Payment
I receive full payment up front, no exceptions

III. Process
Clients are expected to provide references as stated in the Reference Guide, which can be found in the price sheet, if not, you can ask me!
Character illustration ISN’T character design. If you can’t provide specific details and want to leave a lot of decisions in the hands of me, you are commissioning me to make a design for you, this costs more and must be stated up front in order to calculate a fitting price.

Ghosting
If you, the client, does not get back to me within 3 months of contacting, I will have to consider the commission abandoned and you have no right to a refund.

IV. Customer satisfaction
Clients can expect at least the following updates once production starts:

1 update rough sketch/composition
This is a sketch that shows a rough composition of the piece and poses, usually not including any details. Clients are free to give feedback at this stage, however it is important to remember that correct body-types and/or missing details will be added at a later stage, so pointing out the lack of them is unnecessary. Useful feedback at this stage for both client and artist would be: pose adjustments, perspective change and/or missing character(s)/(large)objects.

1 update detailed sketch
At this stage all mentioned details should be present (they may look rough), everything the client has mentioned should be included like i.e.: character features and expressions, outfits and their accessories, props and the background (if applicable). At this stage color is not yet included, however simple black/white shading may be applied to give a sense of depth if necessary. Feedback at this stage can be applied to all mentioned above. Keep in mind that if something looks ‘unpolished’ or ‘rough’, it can be expected that the artist will polish details in the lineart stage, and that they will resemble the references as provided.

1 update lineart + flat color
This update will contain the finished lineart as well as flat (unshaded) colors in order to show the client what the final product will look like cleaned up. The flat colors are there as a base for the shading, but will also give the client a look at how the artist interpreted the colors provided in the references. Colors may look off with a lack of shading, feel free to ask for clarifications if there is any worry about the end result.
‼️ During each phase, edits may be requested if necessary. Remember, providing me with proper references can reduce the chance of miscommunication!
Depending on the nature or frequency of changes (not counting the changes required due to oversight on my part) there can be charges made for edits.‼️
Once the final piece has been sent over, no edits can be requested UNLESS the mistake or missing of a detail is due to oversight on the artists’ part, and can be proven in references/previous communication. Any and all requests that follow, and that have no backing in previous communication can be denied.

Where does the fault of communication lie? (client or artist)

Where does the fault of communication lie? (client or artist)

If the client forgets to communicate a detail or piece of information, that responsibilities lies with the client, and adding or changing said feature can be denied or result in additional charges.
Ergo, if I, the artist forgot to add or include something that was previously clearly stated, that responsibility lies with me and will be added free of charge.
Expected finishing time of the piece depending on many factors such as;
Health, order of commission and complexity, but you are free to contact me for information and expect a reply within 48 hours!
If any of the things stated above occurs you will be notified ASAP!
